that's right, mexican folk meets german polka. conjunto or tex-mex as some call it, born when the german settlers in texas hill country met the resident mexican ranch and farm workers, both cultures valued hard work, and had a common instrument, the accordian, the mexican button accordian met the german piano polka accordian, the children met, danced, and some even fell in love and married. and if you ever get the chance to see this band, los texmaniacs live, do it. especially this young new accordian player, josh bacca, nephew of band founder and master bajo sexto player, max bacca. i think he likes his job and max, the bajo sexto is an interesting instrument, it's a 12 string guitar, the top strings are a set of bass strings, it was developed to provide the rhythm for a traditional mexican button accordian, but max bacca takes it into a lot of other areas, including rock. he played for many years in the original texas tornados
