I love Cajun music but never been able to see it live. But this year I got to listen to the Pine Leaf Boys perform during the Epcot food and wine festival. They were great. It was great fun for me to see cajun music performed live! They sang in French/Creole. It was the first time in a long time that I got too see something new at Epcot. I found their website here The site is even half english and half creole. [This attachment has been purged. Older attachments are purged from time to time to conserve disk space. craig, check out my site, rhythm and roots 2008, the pine leaf boys were the host band, although they had to fly home early because of the hurricane bearing down on their homes, i have a gallery with accompaniement that's wilson savoy sitting in on drums, which is not his usual instrument, in this band he's usually on accordian, in the savoy family band he's on keyboards, as his dad, marc savoy is the accordianist, his dad is also the premier crafter of 2 row diatomic accordians and concertinas in the usa, probably the world, it's the accordian of choice for most professional players maybe drew simon couldn't make the show, i know a couple of the players are still college students wilson, his brother, father, and mother and sometimes his sister make up the savoy family band www.savoymusiccenter.com, they were the r&r 2007 host band, and sang many of their songs in the original creole, a french dialect that a true parisian would not understand much better than me, the big argument in the music the last 20 years has been is it disrespectful to sing it in english if it wasn't written in english, oh no, i've started to hijack the thread, don't let me get started, i truly love this music allons, les bon ton roulets let the good times roll
hijack away Gary, I was hoping you'd like these pics. I had a teacher in high school who was cajun. He was a cranky tired old man, and I couldnt understand half of what he said. I agree that I prefer to have it sang in creole, although I have no idea what they are saying.
