This thread contains official information for our 2023 visit to the Disneyland resort to enjoy the holidays on the west coast. The Pixelmania West - Christmas 2023 will remain active for discussion and planning. As plans are finalized, they will be posted here. When this will happen The dates of Pixelmania West 2023 are December 11-15. (Disneyland only sells tickets for a maximum of 5 days.) Park hopping begins at 11 am and is simplified by the fact that the entrances to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure are 300 feet apart. Getting there Orange County John Wayne Airport (SNA) in Santa Ana, 15 minutes from Disneyland. Long Beach Airport (LGB), 25 minutes from Disneyland. Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), 45 minutes from Disneyland (if traffic is light). We recommend arriving early Sunday afternoon on December 10 and returning home on Saturday morning December 16. If you fly into Orange County, there are many shared shuttle services available. We are using these two shuttle services: Karmel Shuttle Johnny's California Shuttle Service The Long Beach airport has a downloadable list of approved shuttle services. Most shuttles must be reserved at least 24 hours in advance. We recommend making your reservation 2-4 weeks in advance - the earlier the better. (Because we've been trained to book early by WDW.) Where to stay Disneyland has three hotels: Disneyland Hotel, Disney's Paradise Pixar Pier Hotel and Disney's Grand California Hotel & Spa. The first two are priced in the Moderate range and the GC is Deluxe. There are also many Good Neighbor hotels surrounding Disneyland, many closer to the park entrances than the Disney hotels. The preferred hotel for 2023 is the Candy Cane Inn, 1747 South Harbor Boulevard, Anaheim, CA 82802, 800-345-7057. It is a nice, clean, two story motel with recently renovated rooms, free continental breakfast and a shuttle bus to Disneyland. It is a 15-minute walk from the park entrance, so walking is frequently faster than the shuttle. There is a discount for AAA and AARP members (enter promo code DIS when you make your reservation and present your card at check-in). Tickets We plan to purchase 5-day park hopper tickets with Genie+. The current Disney price is $600. Disney requires you to make park reservations when you purchase your ticket, so Thursday, August 17 is the first day you are able to purhcase a ticket and make park reservations for Dec. 11-15. When you make your park reservations, select Disneyland for Monday (12/11), Wednesday (12/13) and Friday (12/15). Select Disney California Adventure for Tuesday (12/12) and Thursday (12/14). Participants The following people have confirmed that thay plan to attend: Dennis gary Joanie Jeff K Michael There's room for more! And if you can't make this one, maybe we can do another one in the spring of 2025.

The first Pixelmania West was a rousing success. We're tentatively looking at March 2025 for the next one. Watch for further announcements in the forums.
and i think we should start a pixelmania west photo thread, many pixels were sacrificed to the photo gods this week, and i ever catch up on my sleep today i may actually start on processing. flight left on time, arrived jfk a little early at 9:30, bags were not as quick as sna, jfk never is, but when i arrived on the air train stop at terminal 8, it was 4 minutes to the next train to jamaica, arrive at jamaica, and got to the information screen showing 5 minutes to the next ronkonkoma train, no traffic driving home and was crawling into my own bed at 12:40 am
I'm finally leaving. As usual I'm the last one out so I turned off the lights when I left Anaheim. I'm at the airport now, on the plane waiting for them to tell me to turn off the phone. My husband thinks that I'll make it all the way to Philly before the storms start. Peace out. ❤️
I'm all for a PW2023 thread for pictures of us, but for attractions, shows, etc. I prefer using existing (or new, if necessary) attraction-specific threads in the Disneyland Resort (California) thread. What does everyone else think? (And everyone means all TMIPers.)
I landed in Denver to chime in that I think a specific thread for Pixel mania West photos would be better
The reason I prefer the attraction-specific theads is that it makes it easier to find "that great photo of [insert name of attraction or character here] that I remember seeing but can't find in the [insert name of same attraction or character here] thread."
ok so let's use the already existing threads, one thing is just realized, i am downloading monday as i type this, next time i need to remember to photo the ride entrance each and every time before entering, so i am not stuck trying to figure out where one dark fantasy ride ends and another begins
