I'm happy with what I got, but I wish I could have shot the show a little wider. ; The 28-70 wasn't quite wide enough for that location and I didn't want to shoot without the ND filter so I couldn't go wider. ; Next time I'll have to rent the new 16-35.
Got a few shots I liked. I need a ND filter for next time Illuminations by Colin Carroll (Sonny Eclipse), on Flickr
Colin, this is really nice! There is so much going on in this shot that is so interesting. It's got beautiful depth thanks to the circular arrangement of white bursts in the center. Then you've got that funky lasers lighting the smoke thing just above the globe. THEN there are the great colors like the red water jets at the bottom and the colorful blue and green bursts at the top. Right now the trendy thing to do is the multi-mega burst ND filter shot but I think this capture is superior in such a refined way. Also the processing really compliments the subject. I know this was during a smokey part in the show but it looks like you got rid of that problem and left just enough for the lasers to bounce off of by the globe. It's an excellent effort and a very artistic capture! ~Joanie
