    Thinking about buying a printer and just wanted to know if anybody is making their own prints. ; I am also curious what size prints folks are printing. ; I don't think I would print out a bunch of 4x6 prints since many of the online shops seem better suited for that, but I do like the idea of being able to make larger prints to actually enjoy around the house, as gifts and maybe even selling at local art festivals.

    I'll go first, I have no color printer suitable for making nice prints. ; I really admire the Epson Stylus Photo 1400, 1900 type of printer.

    i currently have no photo printer, last one broke, i print so few in a year that it's cheaper to use cvs for 4x6 or quick 8x10, larger sizes or show pieces are done via a custom connection, to rigorous standards, well worth it, all my 16x20 wall mounts are this way

    I had an old HP photo printer, but I used it so rarely that the blue channel kept drying up. ; Yes, the blue.. I don't know why, it seemed to be a printer specific problem, I'd replace the cartridge and it would work for a while and then the blue would dry up again.

    Anyway, I upgraded to Windows 7 (I've been meaning to do a post on it) and this printer isn't supported anymore. ; Not that I've used in years when I had an OS that did support it.

    I have an HP color laser, I think it's a Laserjet 2600n, that I use for non photo stuff. ; It can print photos fine, but they won't really look like high quality glossy prints. ; But I don't normally print pictures, so it works out fine. ;

    Then when I want quality prints I go to Costco. ; They're dirt cheap, I can print 8x12 for $1.46 (possibly less, my price sheet is a little old and they may have dropped their prices since then), 11x14 for $2.99. ; And then I go here:

    to get printer profiles that should in theory let me get accurate control of the colors of my prints. ; In reality I'm not good enough at working with color for this to probably be of any use to me, but I use the color profiles anyway and so far, well.. the prints I get back sure look like what the pictures looked like on my monitor.

    I don't do this often, in truth most of the printing I've done there has been for prints that I was entering in a photo contest at a local zoo. ; But I've been pleased with what I've got from them. ; I do have to check over the prints, sometimes I get spots on them and have to ask for a reprint.

    I think the ones I'm looking at are 13" wide maximum, so 16x20 would be out of scope
