On May 20, 2014, I took my son Ryan to the Cape May Zoo for a Ryan-Daddy day and we had a great time enjoying the sights and sounds of the animals and the zoo. Little did we know it would be the last time we got to see and hear the roar of the mighty Brutu, as he was euthanized on Friday 5/23/2014 due to arthritis and spinal cord compressions. The Zoo went to extraordinary lengths to try to save the majestic cat, including having a MRI performed which confirmed the damage to his spinal cord was beyond treatment. Very sad and his roar, which could be heard throughout the entire zoo, will certainly be missed.
