Their new DX Crown Jewel, the D300s http://imaging.nikon.com/products/imagi ... /index.htm Changes from the D300: Quiet shutter mode Dual cards: CF (UDMA) and SDHC D Movie Mode: ; 720p, 24fps (this is important for studio productions, since they base on the standard of 24fps for cinema), and an external microphone in jack to supplement the built-in mic. ; (the 24fps is an interesting one since Canon, while their upper end will shoot 1080 HD video, can't do 24 fps. ; Nor does it have a mic input jack) [attachments posted prior to 4/27/2010 have been deleted by admin. be sure to link images to make sure they don't get removed]
Some of the other changes from the D300 to the "s" model include: Center button on the multi-controller on the back Removal of the camera door latch (it went bye-bye with the D700, only the pro bodies have this now, even on Canon's side) Dedicated LV button.
... and in other news, Canon Rumors lost a bet with Nikon Rumors and has erased Canon from their site banner and replaced it with Nikon. ; The new banner will remain in place for the rest of today. ; ... and now back to your regularly scheduled programming...
Roger, Is the Zoom Lock Switch the only difference between the first 18-200VR and the new 18-200VRII? ; The first one was already VRII. I know a lot of people have been waiting for the 70-200VR upgrade. ; VRII will help when running along with the athletes along the sidelines. ; ;D
Scott, it appears that is the only update to that lens. ; However, that just doesn't seem right....I'm thinking that they may have refined one or more of the elements inside...once real world copies are in the wild and brick walls are photographed we'll be able to tell. I think there was a bigger reason for the 70-200 update.
Is zoom lock to fix the complaint of the zoom creep? Also, I thought the 70-200 was the end all, be all lens. Are there complaints out there?
There was a complaint about it?[nb]Must be out of that loop.[/nb] Yes. ; It vignettes horribly on FX. ; Now it will be the end all be all lens it was supposed to be.[nb]Except that for the price of that lens you could almost buy the 5D MarkII, or maybe even a D700.[/nb] ; Until Canon's "II" version comes out this fall.
I"ll let you know as I will be using mine with a D700 in about a month. ; I didn't seem to notice any vignetting when I used it earlier this year. ; I'll review those photos again. ; I know alot of owners have been complaining about it since the D3/D700 came out. ; Might have been the reason for the delay as the rumors about this lens got hot for a bit about a year ago and then cooled off.
Well Scott, to quote Nikon Rumors, take some pictures of brick walls and blue sky (only) when you do. My own vignetting example was with the 28-200. ; The quality of the lens wasn't that bad, it's just that you could have a filter on the lens at 28mm wide open without getting light falloff at the corners. ; And I hated not having a filter on the lens. ; My kids seem to gravitate towards touching the lens.....
