I had high hopes to get something good out of the Pet Cemetery last trip and this is the best I came up with. ; I managed to get the camera high enough to see over the fence but that's about it- nothing special. ; Anyone have any interesting shots of this? ; I find it to be a difficult subject to do much with.
Your shot came out nicely! ; I agre that it is a difficult subject. ; I've only gotten a few pictures there and nothing too wonderful...
Is that Mr Toad in the far left corner in the back? ; I heard he was in there but never think to look for him.
Yes that it is fact Mr. Toad. ; I looked for him one of my last trips because I heard it was there, and sure enough. ; It was explained that it was Disney's way of saying that the ride was never coming back.
Its funny you put it that way. I don't mean any disrespect, BUT .... how many rides have been gutted and replaced with a new one and then returned to the parks?
I agree, but that was just the way that it was explained by I believe non-other than Lou Mongello on one of his podcasts.
Figures. I like Lou but I wonder sometimes about how he says things. I have seen attractions come and go. They just never come back, with a small exception. IF they just close, Mission to Mars for example, at Disneyland. It closed on a few occasions never to come back but it was not gutted for some time. Once the Tomorrowland Ride Operators ran a little fundraiser and took Polaroids of castmembers with Mr Johnson to raise money for an end of summer party. Mission to Mars was suposed to be closed for good. It opened again. It was finally replaced with Red Rocket Pizza Port. YUK! I believe this happened with Horizons also. Reopened for a short period because Test Track was so far behind schedule. But once torn down, they so far have never returned to the best of my knowledge.
Also with Wonders of Life...that kept closing, then reopening 'seasonally', then less seasonally, off and on for a few years, before finally shutting down for quite an extended time. ; Not sure if it still has been deemed 100% officially closed, but the hulk still sits there looking rather like the bad section of Epcot.
WOL has been gutted; none of the attractions remain. ; It's still being used; for the paid events of Food & Wine.
It has been used for the last couple of years for Flower and Garden festival as well. Its weird to be in there, the main building is there but the attractions have been gutted .
It just looks so sad seeing the shell of the building, with the gates closed, leaves all over the sidewalk, paint fading, everything looking dead. ; So unlike what one normally sees in a Disney park.
That is the only photo I have of the pet cemetery, so I did a little playing in nik colorefx and viveza: [attachments posted prior to 4/27/2010 have been deleted by admin. be sure to link images to make sure they don't get removed]
Never, but my observation has been that people always hold out hope their campaign will be the one that saves whatever they are campaigning for and thereby be the first to bring a deceased attraction back to life
