Another archival shot here...this is Space Mountain in 1984: Much more quaint looking, isn't it?! Not much of a line outside, quite alot of open space all around the front, no store and arcade building, and the little spacemen-in-a-ride-car statue standing prominently out front. The family clustered under the men facing the camera would be my family...I'm surprised to see that even when I wasn't as into photography as I am today, I was still getting those 'not another photo' faces from my family. This is like a Back to the Future experience for me...all of the myriad changes to the Disney parks have happened incrementally over the past 20 years, and I've been there so often that I am like the proverbial frog in the hot water...I didn't notice how much had changed because I had been gradually introduced to each layer of change along the years.
Lines certainly weren't stretching outside the building. Of course, that was always one of those classic deceiving Disney lines as you walked through the main corridor, deeper and darker, then came out into the loading area to find all those queue bars winding you back and forth!
