The Crunch won! ; I'll post more pics tomorrow after my blog post goes live. ; Here's a teaser.

St. John's Ice Caps goaltender Edward Pasquale (40) stops the puck while Syracuse Crunch forward Brandon McMillian (15) looks for a rebound in their AHL playoff game on Saturday, April 21, 2012 in the War Memorial. ; Syracuse went on to win 4-3 to put the series tied at 1-1. The best of 5 series resumes in St. John's on Wednesday.

I did not have the best seat for photography being in a corner where the glass brackets are close together. ; I shot most of the game in portrait orientation using the Nikon MB-10 Battery Grip with vertical shutter release.

Thanks, John! ; Here's one more. ; The puck gets a lot of attention when it's near the goal.

St.John's players manage to keep the puck out of the net during this sequence when the score was still tied.

Based on the shoulder emblem, that is Anaheim and Winnipeg affiliates?

That is correct. ; Syracuse did not renew with the Ducks and have a new deal with a new NHL team for next season. ; They'll announce who it is after Syracuse's season is over. ; The rumor is Tampa Bay.

I think the Winnipeg Jets logo is an instant classic.

Great set, Scott. ; I always love your hockey photos. ; How do you get that monster lens into a "no detachable lenses" facility?

That's the great thing about Syracuse sporting venues. ; They allow for cameras just not professional video and sound recording as it would be impossible to police camera phones with video. ; I can take my camera and lenses into both the Carrier Dome and the War Memorial.

and i'm thinking as old and out of date, bad acoustics and all, the war memorial would be happy just to have a fanny in the seat, never mind turning away dollars over camera policy

It was a full house on Saturday night, Gary. ; They really need to do what Rochester did and build a modern facility. ; All the good concerts go right past Syracuse choosing to stop in Rochester and Albany. ; The veterans have got to calm down. ; The memorial part would be part of a new place. ; Geez!

Syracuse Crunch forward Brandon McMillan (15) tips the puck towards St. John's Ice Caps goaltender Edward Pasquale (40) in the first period action. ; McMillan scored the winning goal in the third period on a another tip in play like this. ; He was in front of Pasquale all night long.

Syracuse Crunch goaltender Iiro Tarkki (35) keeps an eye on the puck after making a save against the St. John's Ice Caps.

St. John's Ice Caps goalie Edward Pasqule (40) deflects a puck over the net on a Syracuse Crunch shot.

It must be nice, Scott, that they ignore their published camera policy that in part states

That is not the policy hanging in the War Memorial, if the Crunch make it through this playoff round, I'll get a photo of it for you. ; I think that is more the policy of the Civic Center which is next door where the stages are for musical productions and operas. ; All part of the OnCenter "complex".

Nice shots! ; Good to see some hockey on the boards - minor or major!

And may I be the first to happily gloat that Detroit Red Wings and Vancouver Canucks have been eliminated in the first round of the NHL playoffs! ; Rejoice! ; Now if Florida could just figure out a way to get rid of those pesky NJ Devils...

    Vancouver is not a surprise. ; They seem to always stumble early. ; Looks like the Predators are for real. ;

I was surprised to see Jose Theodore show up again on my TV screen. ; He saved the Panthers bacon a few times in this series. ; I thought the Devils would have an easy time of it, I thought wrong. ; Not to mention the Rangers and Bruins having problems. ; I doubt the Flyers will last past the next round (sorry, Tim!) unless the goalie gets more consistent.

Indeed - the west is shaping up to be goaltending-land...Preds, Phoenix, and LA are all where they are because of their goaltending in the playoffs - Mike Smith pushing through 5 OT games for Phoenix to take the lead, Rinne really was the stopping power for Nashville against Detroit, and Quick has been absolutely astounding for LA, not letting go more than 3 goals in any game, and stopping over 40 shots in two of them.

The east, on the other hand, is looking like they aren't even using goaltenders in some games, especially that Philly/Pitt battle, where the scores looked more like Football than hockey! ; Theo has been solid for Florida, and Brodeur for Jersey, but neither are running at award-winning level, often facing only 20 shots, and letting go 2-3 a game or more on that.

King Henrik has been solid for NY, but the rest of the team is really struggling against Ottawa - a big surprise I didn't see coming...I figured they'd move on in 5. ; Washington and Boston should have been a goaltending battle, but Washington lost their goalies and are playing a 3rd backup, and Thomas has been uncharacteristically average this series - and both teams haven't been super-impressive at scoring, considering the firepower they have.

Sorry...as a former Jersey boy and adoptive Floridian for the past 18 years, I've got to support the locals. ; Jersey has plenty of Stanley Cups - they don't need another! ; Let Florida have a shot. ; :)

Boston-Washington series has been a nail biter for sure, too many 1 goal games. ; Bruins aren't dead yet and they have a couple of days off before yet another game seven. ; Here's hoping they have that same game seven magic they had last year.

Since I am just a fan for this year's playoffs, I am hoping for a couple more game 7's. ; I'll be routing for the Rangers and Blackhawks tonight. ; Oh, and, if they could throw in a few more Sudden Death OT's, that would be great.
