Does anyone have any tips or tricks when shooting at a Aquarium. Right now I am using a Nikon D50 and have a small budget for lens if needed.
    Thanks

A fast lens for sure. ; I think the D50 will autofocus on the old 50/1.8D but the new 35/1.8G DX or 50/1.8G lenses aren't that expensive and are a great start.

Don't be afraid to use manual focus - the shots inside some of the larger tanks are very low in contrast

Don't use a flash, it'll just bounce off the glass. ; I prefer shutter priority but you may have to shoot in manual depending on how high you want to go with ISO, you'll need at least 800 unless it's a very brightly lit tank (and those are usually very small)

also get a rubber lens hood, they are cheap, and allow you to get right up against the glass, avoiding reflection, and cutting down on some of the glass snot

Thanks for the great advice. ; I have been looking at the 35/1.8 and I think I am going to pull the trigger on that one.
