  1. Brookfield Zoo's big attraction this summer is "Dinosaurs Alive!" ; One section of the zoo has 18 animatronic dinosaurs

    Its funny to see parents try to get pics of their kids with the dinos and the poor kid is hiding behind his stroller!

    Great pics!

  8. Thanks Gary! Continuous shooting mode is my new friend. There were about 20-25 pics of the bear after he jumped into the water. So cute! Actually over the course of the day I took about 400 pics. And kept about 130!

    Very cool. ; I've been there many times this summer, but I never went to the dinosaurs thing. ; To me the zoo has always been about seeing LIVING animals, and about conserving them and their natural habitats. ; The dinosaurs are the ONE group of animals that we don't have to be concerned about any more. ; Every time I go I focus on the non animatronics.

    It's neat to be able to see what I've been missing, though. ; I really oughta go at least once before they're gone at the end of the summer. ;

    Nice shots, and a cool exhibit. ; Looks like a nice side option for the zoo - I definitely go for the real animals too, but why not throw in a little extra display to give you something else to see or enjoy.

    Funny that one of the first things I notice when seeing shots from zoos or other theme parks - even excellent zoos - is how much it demonstrates Disney's awesome attention to detail. ; Even though 90% or more of the visitors will never notice or appreciate the effort Disney puts into it, the few that do can appreciate it all the more. ; Just looking at the locations of the control boxes, power plugs, poles, etc around the dino displays, I know that those are the types of things Disney imagineers go out of their way to camoflauge or hide somewhere. ; It takes nothing away from this dinosaur exhibit - it's way cool and nicely done - it just adds a little extra appreciation from me for Disney!

  12. Justin, did you notice the way they hid the "opening" on the chest of the T-Rex with a big scar???

    Oh yeah...the dinosaurs themselves are very nicely done! ; Like I said, it isn't really fair comparing things on a Disney level - of course Disney has the budget to go a little crazy with the details. ; The dinos look fantastic - definitely something I'd like to see at a local zoo around here. ; I'd go see it!

    Very nice series of photos Katie... ; add another to the fan of the Polar Bear shake club. ; I'm not that far from Chi town (2.5 hours) I really should get over there for this exhibit. ;
