Now that I'm basically caught up with post-processing current pics, it's time to start scanning/rescanning the old stuff.

Didn't bother too much with scratch removal on these from 9/00:

Well if it weren't for the fact that half of my honeymoon pics were lost

I'd have a lot more; but I still have plenty of pages of negatives and slides to go through.

Yes, leave it up to Disney to pull a "real" Jaws 3-D where the guests do go underwater using those special elevators and.

They were a cool effect though. I thought they were real for a long time. I was only 8 the first time I was there so what do you expect?

Please keep posting the old pics, they are great to look at. I hate to ask, but what happened to the honeymoon pics?

My wife is scared stiff of elevators and refused to go in them as she thought they were real! She could not beleive how stupid she was being when a CM let her just walk through a door!

I can't be sure, it was a long time ago.. but I THINK my parents explained to me how the hydrolators worked. I think they explained it because I was confused about how we could be descending into a body of water when we're in the middle of Epcot, surrounded by land. Still I never totally accepted it. More recently I can remember taking the hydrolators down and then taking the normal door exit and being totally disoriented. The sudden view of daylight was a bit of a surprise even though I knew about the tricks the hydrolators employed. I consider this a testament to Disney ingenuity. Even though I knew about the tricks, they STILL fooled me on some level. The theming of the under water research base was good enough that I still felt like I was under water.

The time when I saw both sides of the hydrolator open at the same time was such a disappointment.. as long as I never saw that the idea that MAYBE it was still real still existed to me. I hope this makes sense, I knew that it was just a simple but brilliant trick. But I never fully believed it, perhaps I wanted to believe in the fantasy. So when I finally saw the open path proving that everything was on the same level I lost that tiny bit of innocence.
