I took these pictures all about the same time. We got our new camera in December, and I find that I love to take pictures at dusk to play with the VR lens and the auto ISO function! I always used to use 800 speed film, and it just looked so grainy compared to new digital high ISO's.

I agree that noise from digital slr is not like film was. I remember shooting at iso 400 35mm film and I thought I was using sand paper and not film. Love the dogs on your site. Are the black ones sheppards also? I have had 3 female sheppards that I adopted and there were all great dogs but the last one I had was unreal. Never had a dog like that. She adored children and was very protective of them

Nice work, Craig. Dusk is "prime time" for WDW photos.

I love all disney parks at night. The lights and everything just lights up the magic.

Craig - were those all handheld ?

I always like dusk shots too, but I hate lugging a tripod. Taking shots like this is why I want to invest in a 5D (for optimum high-ISO pics) and an IS lens.

yes, these and all my shots so far are handheld with a vr lens and high iso. vr (is)is great. I love it!!! I would recommend a vr or is lens to anyone! I have always been afraid to set up a tripod in a park and highly respect all who do it. I just am so afraid that someone will knock it over.

    Craig,

Which VR lens did you use? I tried out an 18-200 VR lens yesterday on my D70 and fell in love with it. Not sure if I'm ready to pay the price over the new 55-200 VR but it sure would be nice to not have to change going from wide angle to tele.

It's the 18-200 vr. I love it. It really does live up to all its hype. I do shoot at night at the 18mm end to get all the f-stop I can out of it. i would buy the lens allover again. i don't even carry a camera bag anymore. (although, now I want the 80-400vr to go really long)

    here's three quick examples:

You just had to show me those didn't you, Craig? Let's see...23 days before my next trip to WDW. Wonder if I can get away with an $800 lens purchase? ;D I do love the thought of only needing to carry only memory cards around.

:) ;) ;D Now, there's an idea. Might be pushing it but, what the heck, you only live once. Wonder what I can get for my 18-70 and 80-200 zoom lens on eBay these days? 8)

i've thought the same thing about selling two older lenses. But, I dont want to "give" them away. I almost would rather have them just keep sitting in their older camera bag. i have thought about sending one to adorama to trade towards another lens...
