Which do you prefer? ; Topaz or Nik? I've used a trial version of Nik or sharpening and noise reduction and like it. ; But before I spend $200+ for software I wanted to get some other thoughts on it. I use Lightroom only - don't own PhotoShop. Thanks!
Hi paul, Did you do a comparison of the Nik noise reduction software against the built-in Lightroom noise reduction? ; I was curious if there is a noticeable difference on the quality on the NR processing. ; I've been meaning to try this, just haven't gotten around to it.
I haven't had much success at all with the LR noise features. Nik allowed me to specify control points where I wanted the noise reduced. ; And you can adjust the strength of the noise reduction.
I have not used Nik's noise removal, but do use Topaz's Denoise3...it is very effective and can really remove heavy-duty noise to light fine grain stuff. ; I do like the various controls to adjust the noise removal properties - strength, cleaning, detail restoration, restoration in different color areas, color noise vs base noise, chroma control, etc. I also still use Helicon noise reduction, which is a very fast and easy one with lumi and chroma controls for when I want speedy results or just need light noise removal from blue skies or something. ; But Topaz Denoise3 is very good. I bought the package for Topaz, with Adjust, Detail, Denoise, Simplify, Clean, etc. ; Adjust, Denoise, and Detail are really the 3 I use the most.
I was able to obtain all of NIK's software and I have to say that it is awesome! Really easy to use and the noise reduction works great! Of course I've never tried Tozaz but I don't think that you'd be disappointed in Nik.
