OK, I'm heading out on the DVC member cruise Sunday, and the parks for 4 days after. ; Any tips on what will be closed or what is being refurbished? Thanks Joe
Re: What's missing this trip? 9/1 TTC and there is a wall around the Skyway site to protect the debris........
Re: What's missing this trip? 9/1 Though theoretically, TTA is SUPPOSED to be open this weekend. ; Darned well better be open before I get there Thursday! Space Mountain still closed. Living with the Land is still closed. Epcot will likely have some walls up in a few places, that shouldn't have any bearing on the World Showcase pavilions themselves - they'll be setting up all next week for the Food&Wine starting the week after. I'll be there Thursday through Monday too...so I'm keeping an eye on that stuff.
Re: What's missing this trip? 9/1 Absolutely. ; It's the very first thing I head to when I get in MK.
Re: What's missing this trip? 9/1 Well if the demo's done there is nothing to fear from guests on it. Was something supposed to change for that ride? ; I highly doubt it other than perhaps they've walled off the glass into SM....I don't think you'll see major changes for TTA until/if/whenever DL decides what to do with their track, because if they can figure out the mechanics for a Pod attraction, you can bet that it'll be ported. ; MK has the room to do it too.
Re: What's missing this trip? 9/1 I don't think they were planning any big overhauls of TTA - I assumed it was due to the SM refurb that they had to close TTA anyway, and would just take advantage of the shut down time to wall off the SM part, and maybe do some cleanup/touchup to the TTA cars, track, etc. ; I believe I heard rumor of new LED lighting overhead in the track. ; I could see maybe it as an opportunity to change some of the displays during the ride-throughs. I don't much care what the displays or lighting are...as long as I can get in my TTA car, kick my feet up on the opposing bench, sit back, and feel the breeze in my face...I'm happy. ;
Re: What's missing this trip? 9/1 The LED lighting I can believe, since Disney is going to have to overhaul ALL of the lights since the incandescents, esp. on Main St. are going to get very expensive as we get closer to NoMoreEdison Day[nb]Yes I know there is an exception for specialty lighting, but trust me, the manufacturers are going to have to show why, and that will cost money.[/nb] But considering that TDLBV had to be dragged kicking and screaming to get Star Tours 2.0 and the Fantasyland redo (including Ariel's Undersea Adventure People-eating ride), I can't see them spending any money on other stuff. ; Heck, they did a Stitch stage show, and canned it rather than building a canopy! Need to use existing space? ; No, it's cheaper to demo![nb]Tomorrowland skyway[/nb] DL when it came time to add Buzz Lightyear, they were able to fit it completely within the old Circlevision building which had become the Rocket Rods queue.....and the new Castle walkthrough, gee, didn't need to tear down the castle to build. ; WDW forgot how to do stuff like that, a la POTC, although that was one where they should have built the area properly to begin with. It's been a while since DL (1994?) played the "build outside the berm" trick (along with 'hey, why do we need to have the ride take them outside the berm? ; we'll just build an elaborate queue so they don't realize that they are walking under the train tracks and outside the berm!'), and have a feeling that once the Fantasyland redo hits people, you'll be seeing a push for MK to add a Toontown on the other side of the tracks like it's older sister.
BTW - it's official - TTA is OPEN as of today. ; Cars got a repaint, tracks cleaned, and LED lighting seems to be all they've done. ; And they've papered up the glas in Space Mountain so you can't see what's happening.
