From my January 20th week trip, once again had some opportunities to put the old Tamron 10-24mm UWA through some nighttime exercise. ; Of course, World Showcase is always a favorite at night for me anyway, and even more fun with an ultrawide. ; I posted my first such experiments with this lens at night last year, and some shots are similar compositions that I tried to improve, while others were new attempts. ; The skies were really wild - very low cloud/fog from daytime storms as a cold front passed through - it went from 80s the day before to 40s that night - and the lights were bouncing off those low banks of cloud and fog for some real wild colors. ; As usual, I'm posting the smaller requisite version and a link to the 1024x pixel original: http://www.pbase.com/zackiedawg/image/1 ... iginal.jpg http://www.pbase.com/zackiedawg/image/1 ... iginal.jpg http://www.pbase.com/zackiedawg/image/1 ... iginal.jpg http://www.pbase.com/zackiedawg/image/1 ... iginal.jpg http://www.pbase.com/zackiedawg/image/1 ... iginal.jpg http://www.pbase.com/zackiedawg/image/1 ... iginal.jpg http://www.pbase.com/zackiedawg/image/1 ... iginal.jpg http://www.pbase.com/zackiedawg/image/1 ... iginal.jpg http://www.pbase.com/zackiedawg/image/1 ... iginal.jpg http://www.pbase.com/zackiedawg/image/1 ... iginal.jpg More to come!
Justin, thanks, now I am going to have to add an UWA lens to my list of stuff to buy from B&H. ; It's already over $2600. ; Oh well, if I can get shots like this, then I am willing to save and shell it out. ; These are fabulous.
Thanks all. ; I wouldn't mind a UWA meetup, if we had enough people together who've got one. ; Would be fun - it's looking at the parks in a whole new way for sure (you can't imagine how close I'm standing to some of these things to get the shots!). Jeff - do it - UWAs are a whole lotta fun. ; If you're already at $2600...what's another $500 going to hurt you? ;
hey jeff, you shoot canon, i could use my 24-105 for awhile while you try out the 14mm, thats wide enough for ya, or you carry it, and i'll borrow back the 10-22 efs from mom, just let me know far enough in advance, and i'll ups it down to you, you can send it back to mom, saves me dragging it down on my back. i gave her the 17-55 2.8 IS and the 10-22 with the rebel xti for christmas, i'm either all full frame now or lightweight m4/3
Gary that would be great! ; I am really pushing to have my new camera by the time this Pixelmania comes along so it would be great to have either way. ; The 14 would give me about 22, right?
On a crop body, the 14mm would be 'wide', but not *quite* ultrawide (though the definition I've heard for ultrawide is anything under 24mm). ; To really get into the crazy-wide perspectives, you gotta get to around 15mm after crop. ; 14mm will be fun too - but definitely borrow the 10-22mm as well for the real fun!

Amazing work Justin!! ; I need to get back and try some night shots at World Showcase again! ; Hard to do it in the summer though.
Fantastic work. I like the first one in the second set (I'm a sucker for reflections) and the 5th one with the moon. Well done!
Wow simply stunning!!! I have been inspired by this! I am correct saying this is just doing long exposures correct? And its soo quiet, no-one in the shots, where was everyone? What camera do you use? Again, Absolutely stunning shots!!
