Lovely Howie! ; Those are so nice and close, and lovely light and detail. ; I see lots of YC and BC night herons, but the YCs always seem to be deep in the shade and shadow and never nice and exposed like yours! ; Funny, I have a shot of one of them head-on like yours, where they have that silly googly eyed look that I snapped of one in May: I swear they remind me of the movie Mars Attacks! ; when I see them this way.
love that look Justin. they do look like aliens sometimes. these were in trees in a neighborhood and I had to move around a lot and wait for some to land in the tree tops to get shots. I also borrowed a friends 300 f2.8 lens as it was dark and the 600f4 is too heavy to lug around.I like the 300 more actually so may end up selling the 600 next year and getting the 300 2.8 and some tele converters. here is some juvy aliens YC-night-heron-chicks by LW_NJ, on Flickr
