i love photos of the little details and scenery at wdw... the things that in and of themselves aren't any special but contribute to the greater good of the scene.... things like the advertisements in africa (animal kingdom) or the doors in liberty square (magic kingdom). what are some of the things you really love to photograph? liberty square african advertisements
I always like to photograph the different styles of lightposts all over the World, which are always themed to the park or property in which they are installed: Saratoga Springs: Epcot - China: And I love either getting to a park early, staying late, or just having alot of patience, to photograph sections of the themeparks with no people in the shot where they normally would be: Animal Kingdom entrance: Aunt Polly's on Tom Sawyer Island: Somebody a few months back told me about photographing these statuettes...I can't think of where I heard that from... : Then there are those areas that are never missed in Disney...areas that are fully decorated, with all the right details, despite the fact that they are not noticed by most. For example, this area in Animal Kingdom: Which is not really visible from the walkways to Everest from Asia, and too far away for the details to be appreciated from the Everest walkway from Dinoland. In fact, the only place the details can really be appreciated is from the waterside gazebo eating spots at the Flame Tree BBQ! Yet, the details are not overlooked - the clothes, the baskets, the rusted bike, the crooked steps, and the dilapidated temple. I love Disney...did I mention that?
The same off-the path stuff. Things that most guests don't notice. Now I have to find that NOS light to post. <img src="http://www.themeparkphotos.us/assets/images/db_images/db_IMG_1109a1.jpg" />
I'm afraid this doesn't exactly qualify as a favorite photo spot.. but.. I think it fits into the spirit of it, since we're talking about the little details. I've got two entries. Both from the entry area for Space Mountain. A while back I noticed that they'd hidden a joke inside the star system names. First there's "real sirius". Actually the first one I noticed shows up in the second shot, "beta beleevit". And just now I found another.. I had a feeling there'd be more there, but I just never noticed it before. On the second image, "world ceres". Yes, the first image shows one of the remnants of the former Federal Express sponsorship, but still.. I love the line for Space Mountain. I read that when Space Mountain first opened, people who didn't want to ride the coaster would still go through the line to see the theming, and there was a place near the end where they could exit without riding it. I have the entire soundtrack that they play in the queue on my computer, it's something I listen to when I want to remember my own vision of "the good old days".. compared to now the music doesn't exactly sound edgy, but it's got this great positive, optimistic feel.. and when I listen to it I can remember the joy of ducking into the Space Mountain building, enjoying the sudden blast of cool air after being out in the typical Florida heat. As a kid I had this fantasy that involved sleeping in the wait area. I mean it was dark, it was cool (temperature wise).. and as a sci-fi nut I loved the theming, I just wanted to stay there for a while, to have a chance to soak it all in without having to be constantly moving along towards the coaster. I always thought it was a little unusual, it seemed very calming, very serene.. yet it was the wait area for a coaster.
Here's that NOS pic I was talking about. I was waiting for Fantasmic! and saw this shot with my rented 28-70/2.8L back in 2000. <img src="http://www.themeparkphotos.us/assets/images/db_images/db_nos092000a1.jpg" />
