Finally got shots of the Helmsman that I'm happy with. Just in time too since they screwed up the lighting when the on-ride photo in.

She's mad as heck and not going to take it any more. She's buying a gun and taking it out on the townsfolk.

We wants the......RUM! I have to say, since I have no input on what changes they make with attractions, and I would have voted NO to this, I was please with the results.

I have to say I found it worse than I even expected. While I don't mind the men chanting for rum, or even the concept of the female pirate...the auctioning of chickens and some of the lines the auctioneer says about chickens and egg-laying is just too ridiculous for me. Much worse than the change to the ladies chasing the pirates, which was PC but within the realm of acceptability. Pirates auctioning chickens though? PC gone amok! Might as well take away the rum too, since drinking is bad. And all the burning and looting and stealing too. All the pirates could just be passing out flowers and baking cakes and singing Shiny Happy People.

Agreed. They had the opportunity to make a brand new amazing scene but took the lazy route of redressing what they had. They should have removed the auction scene entirely because the idea of auctioning loot is completely ridiculous. The captain would have claimed all the loot and distributed to the crew. There would have never been a loot auction.

I suppose I was more happy with the quality of the Redhead animatronic, all your points are great. Especially the claiming the loot for himself. I couldn't help but think as I passed this scene that the rum would eventually go and the guns would first all be made an orange color then removed altogether.

At which point they should call it "Boy Scouts of the Caribbean" as X. Atencio once quipped.

I liked that wider perspective John Wolff was getting - I have shot POTC with an APS-C camera and either a 30mm or 35mm lens for a decade...I finally added a 16mm F1.4 lens last year, and it was really neat to get those wider 24mm perspectives for a change like the pirate ship I posted above where I could fit the entire ship into the frame...or this shot where for the first time I could fit the prisoners AND the dog into one shot:

Justin, I rented a 20mm(30mm with my crop sensor) 1.8 during Pixelmania last year for that very reason. Wanted to try to grab wider shots. I was happy with the results.

Same with me - when the Sigma 16mm F1.4 came out for the E-mount system, I ordered it the day it was announced. I love that wider perspective for a lot of low light use.
